Can't wait to see you in the line up with the new 7-4 ... I might just have to test drive it.

I'll have it out there this weekend, if the swell forcast holds.
Maybe tomorrow if we get enough of a bump from the SE.

Good surfing with ya last Sunday!

    Fickle

For some reason I get bored riding the same board all the time. I think the last time I posted in this thread I was all excited about 10 ft., 30 lb. boards and now I'm going the opposite direction. From the 10-0 Velzy at 30.5 lbs. I went to the 9-10 Brewer at 20 lbs. and now I,m back on the 9-2 Harbour HP-1 that I haven't ridden in years. I took out the donky-shlong fin though and replaced it with a tiny 6.5 incher slid all the way back. Had it in some juicy 3' hollow south swell stuff this morning and it really was fun. The pulled in tail lends itself nicely to the small, heavily raked fin when it's back in the box, not a hint of spin out but plenty loose. I notice that after riding the heavier boards, when I'm on the little boards in the 9 ft range, everything is so quick and easy that I feel invincable.:eye:

Hot Dawg, Geez. Now, if you could just make it north of Tin Can Beach, we'd have something to talk about...

Gotta go to the Post Office now. Besides, the last two trips up there resulted in no visible surf.

    And Back Again

The waves last Friday were on the small side And I noticed The 9-2 had trouble staying on track with me in an extreem forward trim possition charging those pint-size, but steep, sections. Back onto the 10-0 Velzy for the evening glass off. Can we say G L I D E ! There is just no way to compare the Velzy to modern equipment. It's gust way too cool. The weight, the feel, the look ... it's all first class, Cadillac and bichen ... just like the little lady who bought it for me ... thankyou, Mary, you're the bomb. :eye:

A saltwater dragster... almost finless, buoyant and directional. Bottom contours and 90 degree chines blend into twin keels. Rolled bottom nose, reverse rockered concave tail. Composed of flexible PE foam, PVC bottom/chine skin and resin, sanded Volara deck, hollow ABS skeleton. Circa 1984.

    Hey groovn,

It`s one of my old triplane bodyboards. Unbelievably fast... used for linear tracks in long, smooth, hollow, powerful conditions,
2` to 10'+. I`ve built and tested a lot of different surfcraft designs. Standing, kneeboard, prone. Most of my triplanes were made in the 1970`s to latter half of 80`s.

Here`s another type of saltwater dragster, a finless, flex spoon paipo with removable, soft "false deck". The spoon shell is epoxy and fiberglass... from about 20 years ago.

wow! Those things are a trip. You got any shots of them in action?

Do you still get out in the water with craft like that??

I'm always fascinated by different, classic innovations and approaches in the design of waveriding vehicles. Both those things look like a guy could really haul some serious ass on 'em!

Just browsed on SG bulletin b. Holy crap…glad to be back here!

Anyway, went through a real nasty week of sore throat and cough. But all is well now because I’ve finally found my fun board! I loooove hiiiiim! It’s a 6’10” Matt Kechele. I’ve named him billy baroo (see Caddy Shack). Now pure (my longb.) has a little brother! I know, I’m so retarded. Took the K-board out Sunday and had so much fun. Me and my buddy Georgio were just hangin’ out surfing having a good time. Then Broward Sheriffs came and started handing out tickets to everyone for parking in spaces that we’ve all been parking in for the last 10 freakin’ years or so. But nothing could harsh my mellow.

Scored a 6’10” Ron Jon for my little chiceedeeta yesterday. She’s so happy. She can’t wait to go surf with her little guy pals this weekend. I will get pictures.

    Peace guys

Ahhh shucks OB...... OK here's my goodies...... oops, better edit that out, you probably mean my BOARD

Here she is in all her flowery glory! My friends laughed at the photo because I came from work so was wearing a skirt when I bought it

She's a 9'0" Terry Senate - concave nose for all that time that I spend up there (he he ha ha) but aggressive lines for smooth fast riding (shaped for one of his team riders - Jin Seo). On the stringer it says "You Go Girl" and I'm sure it makes me a better surfer! I'm astonished how fast it is - somehow expected a longboard to be more sluggish. Am slowly getting used to moving all that material around in the water.

We had a pretty decent sized swell last weekend and I was sooooo tempted to go back to a shorter board to get through the beach break..... stuck it out, got thoroughly pounded a few times trying to get out (damn turtling), but was rewarded with a beautiful smooth ride or two. I'm discovering tiny little paddling muscles that I didn't know I had (this board is almost 2" wider than my 7'2") Patience grasshopper.......

    Island Girl

A very fine craft you have yourself there. W. C. Fields would certainly have a joke about a lady's surfboard being described as fast and loose, but I wil just stick to a heart felt... congradulations!

That is definitely a very nice board - I think I may go to a 12'+ board (there is something about the pics of people with these massive boards comparative to themselves - they bring back a certain "feel" if you know what I mean?).......

I hope you stick with the building of your little paddling muscles - and when you can snatch the Stoke from our hands, you will be ready, young Grasshopper

Again, great board and humor

LOL!!! Thanks SG and everyone else. If a chick's board is supposed to be reflective of her personality then maybe I should have had this one when I was in my early 20's!!!! Then again, one of my crew told me that it was a fun board, good to look at and makes you smile..... kinda like me (ahhhhhh shucks)

Holy cow I can feel the wicked stoke on this board already! Hope I haven't come in too heavy with the photos and all - just trying to sit on the shoulder for a bit and pick up the leftovers for awhile so I don't offend anyone

And SoupMonkey, hold out that hand with the stoke in it 'cause I'm thinkin' that I'll be in there to grab at it real soon! Back in the water in T-45 hours......

No way VG! Keep on posting shots! I've never been to Canada and it's fully cool to see other peoples surfing worlds. I'm a full on surf-nut. Love talking, reading, watching, anything about surfing. All kines. Short, long, skim, body, sponge, knee..it's all good. My kid was giving me heat the other day for being too into it..ahh..what does she know? Damn kids.

SM..I got the mega-LB awhile back, but I've found myself more on my 9'4" lately. The last couple times I had the big girl, I kept getting out in front of the wave to much...I'm probably takin' her out tommorrow morn though. The waves here are real small, so it should be fun. Only real hassle is carrying that big hunk of board across the reef. Damn low tides.
