    Nice angle

    Hey Bud!

I figured it was about time for you to post a new nugget! And alas, there it is! That's an interesting perspective....nice composition too. How 'bout a sweet, juicy shot from Yoks to stir a few memories?? Keep 'em coming, cause we had a pretty meager summer this year in California. Lately, everyone has been saying that means a good fall and winter season.....only father time will tell for sure. But one thing is for sure....the ol' Duckster will be ready!!!

    Ahhhhh...

Just like I remember it....only going left! Never forget the time I pulled up and there was only one guy sittin' in the water, it was late in the afternoon, summer of '75 and the big epic, deep cycle, New Zealand south was just startin' to show it's beautifully manicured lines. Turned the ignition off, then watched the one lone surfer take off backside, goin' left, hit a calculated, precise bottom turn, pull up into the sweet spot, disappear for what seemed the longest time, then reappear > ridin' front side!
Claudia & Bud, can you figure out who it was???

Like I said Bud, Keep the Stoke headed our way??

    Duckster

Rubbin it in like that was indead in poor taste. But you know me!

What I meant to say was...
...I can't believe I got a shot like that, makes me look like I know what I'm doin. I have all the video of me from 1999 to 9/20/01 all on the same tape. It's interesting to watch the progression from aging comebacker to in shape and on it. Still need to capture the stand up tube soul arch thing. Someday maybe. First I'll need to find a big tube and learn how to ride it. At Bolsa that could take some time.

    Classical Glass Xpression Session

    Hey all!

The Cap'n, Skinny Mike and I caught SS #11 pretty darn fun yesterday (9/29). And here's an e-pic from the session, from a different angle for a change. I had to go ashore to do my business, so I took the camera with me. It's kinda far away, but you get the general idea. It got mo' betta later that afternoon, like twice the size, and the late afternoon hot chubasco winds starting grooming the faces around 16:30 hrs. We could smell the sage brush in the air! There was never more than four people in the water at anyone time and they we're seperated into groups of two, one group up at the head of the point and another about two thirds down the point ridin' through to the bowl section which is the grand finale. And the vibe was good, everyone talkin' and sharin' waves....a lot of waves went unridden, but the ol' Duckster did his best to ride as many as my arms would bear. That Pacifico and nap was mandatory around 14:00 hrs....keep the stoke goin'!!!

    Much Aloha
    Duck

Note: The Cap'n has awoken and is standing behind me gettin' ready to shove off for home and he has pointed out to me that this photo only shows the inside of the point.....there's another 100 to 200 yds of point around the corner. Adios!!

    Nice picture Duck...
I think I know where that break is...(I see boats anchored)
Just came back from the central coast after being there for 5 weeks.
Where else do you surf? Do you go to Cambria?
We caught the southswell pretty good a couple of times while we
    were there.
Still I'm happy to have left my fullsuit behind........

    Claudia

I never seem to get outta town except to surf that stretch of coastline where I shot that last picture. The only other area I surf extensively is Pizmo Beach. I'm into retro longboarding, minimal rocker entry, heavy glass jobs, single glass on fin, etc. And the mushy waves of Pizmo are absolutely a dream come true (especially in the surmmer time) for retro slidin'. matter of fact I went down to Oceano twice yesterday cause it's been uncharactertiscally hot around here late...and usually when it's hot, there's no wind. Shot down there around five with the Squirrel in tow and was greeted with small glassy wedges, all the way to the beach. I'm taking boards and gear to work this morning in hopes of a repeat of last nite. But to get back to the original intend of this reply post, I would like to mention that I'm not at all inmune to surfing some juice once and a while. Matter of fact, I've just recently acquired a rather gunny longboard shaped by Scott Anderson that I think will go well in the big, juicy stuff!!
Will you be in the great State of Calif. when the Glide Beachfest happens?? I'd love to meet you and talk story about the west side. Haven't been back there since '75.

    Surf's up!

    Duck,
Sorry just got through with my yearly dose of cold water...
But I did surf Pismo during my stay, usually north side- evenings
    with Moondoggies crew. Fun longboarding...
Hope you have more shots of the central coast!!

    Yep

    Claudia,

I"ll keep 'em coming....I promised myself that I would take a pic everytime I surfed that stretch of coastline...for sentimental reasons. Only thing is, I need to update my camera gear. I like the digital cause when I get home, I can post a pic right away. The digital 35mm SLR's are a little pricey right now. Truth be known, I'd really like to get into video.....lookin' at a Sony TRV 900. I figure it'll do everything I need and then some. It was in the immediate future till I had to buy my daughter a car last week. She just turned 16.....oh BOY!!! Anyway, I'll keep 'em headed this way when I've got something worthy to post!

    SS #12

Here is a shot of Saturday's fun....we had it to ourselves for over 3 hours....I shot this after we got back in the boat....it was bigger earlier, but alas, not enough light to shoot a pic. After we napped and had a beer or two, we moved up to SS #12 and proceeded to ride nice little chest high peelers for over 200 yds all the way to the beach....I hate it when that happens!!!

    HB Pier

Here's a video taken last Friday morning, 10-12 taken at Huntington - after the swell had backed down from Wed/Thu. The crowds were out in full force!

It's a .mpg video from Wavecam.com. A bit of downlide time needed for a 56k connection.

    Enjoy:eye:
