here we go, peoples. by sunday am, we should see something. to all the inexperienced: go to the beach and WATCH who shreds when you do not go out. take notes. that way, when you go out and it's small, you won't be making a fool out of yourself by assuming the guy next to you is only as good as you.

one time, i was out at 0-2 foot town and everybody was dropping in on this one guy, and the man was cool about it. he just let everyone have their way with him. i freaked, because the man was tony moniz, eddie aikau invitee. it goes to show you, be careful of the quiet ones...

let's be careful out there :)

peace...

swell came, like expected. it's still going off, right now, as i sit here at work this fine monday morning.

i have to come clean, however. yesterday morning i was there at dawn, and i was greeted with some SERIOUS surf. low tide, and 6+. i was thinking it was going to get bigger, better, and SAFER with the incoming tide, so, i planned to wait. wrong move.

the wait only made me more apprehensive as the day went on. i ended up not going out where i should've, (maybe for the better). "Think Long, Think Wrong"

i think the good lord said it was time for puhi to have another serving of humble pie...

i'm out there again after work, see ya'all!!!

Yeah!!! the swell did arive and yesterday was a blast! We got to the beach around 11am and the tide was sooo low! and the surf was around 3-4+ here on Maui. It made for some killer drops!! We also figured it would get better with the rising tide but no such luck, it started to drop. Later in the afternoon it picked up again and being that it was high tide it was some fun waves that we where calling elevator waves because the wave comming back off the beach would raise you really high on the wave and then drop you back down. I loved it! I get off work early today because there's waves!! Hope you are all catching some too.

Stay Stoked!!

6/6/00 - i got off way early yesterday (monday) and didn't waste any time. i bee-lined it to the south shore...

3 sessions total today :)

alamo, 4-6' low tide (.5') and dropping (-.1) occasional 7+ on the sets. if the swell were more southerly, the channel would've closed out. as it was, 2 sets this morning nearly closed the channel.

the swell was/is more easterly than usual, causing the channel to hold a bigger wave, and making for some serious long-shots from the MIDDLE. the middle didn't have too many lined up waves, but my god!!! you should've seen the ones that did, and they came through about every 15 minutes. ROCKPILES was the best i remember seeing it in 31 years!!! the damned place had the g-land look to it, PITCHING and THROWING, peeling and roping.

already this summer is better than the last several years, wave-wise AND crowds. however, a bit of advice to those new to the lifestyle: if it's too big, do not go out. for some reason, during this swell there were alot of people in the water that were in over their heads. VERY scary, i don't like to watch bad things happen.

remember what clint eastwood said in magnum force, "a man has got to know his limitations."

thank the creator for these last several days, you know i did. stay safe, enjoy the remainder of this swell. peace...

Our crew scored lots of that south swell here on Oahu last Sunday/Monday/Tuesday also. Sunday nearly 7 hours total water time for me! A few pics (spot to remain unidentified) here http://www.pixi.com/~buds/046.html

Tuesday morning still had a few solid 2xoh on the sets at Big Rights, but it was tough crowd. Bonga, Kahea, Kanoa, etc. etc. plus Bolster & others poking out from the impact zone with their cameras made the tensions extra high. But the waves were all-time excellent!

Good surfing to you,

Bud

Excellent pics Bud. Looks like you had great sessions. I just got back from a two day surfari, but it was nothing like that south swell you guys had. Mail me if you have anything that you would like to post on the Glide.
