Hey Puhi! You keep talkin about Christmas Island - Is that the same Christmas Island that belongs to Kiribati? Just curious since I have worked in Kiribati a couple of times - not on Christmas but in the GIlbert chain - and was wondering if there was another Christmas Island out there...

good waves to all...
Hey OBsurfgirl-
http://www.nws.fsu.edu/B/buoy?station=51028 The Christmas Island Buoy is south of Hawaii and is one of the first indicators for incoming swells from that general direction. Although that buoy is pretty far away and sometimes they swing wide, missing us. It's been pinging at about 8'- 14sec for some time now and is predicted to hit us, so...I'm guessing 6-8 foot faces by Thursday morning, maybe a bit bigger. When it starts hitting this one http://www.nws.fsu.edu/B/buoy?station=51002 it's pretty much a guarantee. My fingers are crossed and I'm looking forward to testing a brand new stick Wednesday eve & Thursday morn!
Good surfing to you,
Bud

for the benefit of those who haven't seen the high surf warning signs in the country, it reads, "... dangerous surf present between the months of october through april..."
