Hey everyone! Just had to share this little story of stoke with ya!
Two weekends ago some friends of mine threw a stag weekend for our buddy Jim(congratulations Jim and Trish!). We all piled into our vans and headed out to the west coast of Vancouver Island for surf, many beverages and more surf. I'm sitting on the rocks watching the waves on Saturday night with my friend Rich talking about the rides we got that day when he mentions that I've improved since last summer but he thinks my board might be holding me back. (I ride an old, beat up, ex-rental, epoxy 6'6) He tells me that if I got a bigger board the learning curve wouldn't be so steep. I explain to him that I would love a bigger board but finances dictate otherwise so I just have to deal with what I have for now. Next thing I know Rich is offering to give me his 9' Ocean Pulse! I couldn't believe my ears! That's the first of the double stoke. The Pulse has been around for a while and was missing one of the glassed on fins but Rich, being the super rad guy and excellent shaper that he is, said he would fix it for me. Then he decides it would be better for me if I learned how to fix it myself. I have never worked with fiberglass so I wasn't too sure about this idea but he set me up with all the materials and a book to follow and sent me on my way. So now after two attempts and three nights of work I have a longboard with all three fins attached and I did it myself! Double stoked!!!
Anyway, this got a little long winded but I just wanted to say thanks to Rich and tell every one to try and do your own repairs, you will be amazed at the results and the sense of accomplishment you get.
Later all,
